Taylor's Kids

Author : Cassandra Ingraham
This is a fictional story with true under currents. You determine just how true the story is!World War II was getting worst by the day. There were so many causalities that the Army couldn't keep up with the coffins or the Flags to drape them. Sidebar meetings were being held all over the world. Everyone seemed to think "they" had the answer on how to end the war.For many US soldiers they realized that their forces were split as were their Army. There was the all white Army and the Negro Army. It appears that white soldiers realized very quickly that if they were to conquer Hitler, they would need to join forces at least mentally and spiritually if not physically.
Secretly Task forces were joined. The real birth of Special Forces, in my humble opinion, was born. The goal was to info trait the minds of Hitler and his Generals, first mentally and then physically. I am not sure of the details, therefore this is all I will say. What is more apparent is, once the war ended, it was clear to soldiers on both sides of the color line that the people back home would not understand nor accept their actions, yet it was these same people, who insisted that the war end with victory. All color lines had been crossed and brought under one Nation under God to help stop the war. I suppose the color of unity would have been red, since the wounded and dying soldiers all bleed in "red"It would be the children of the children of World War II veterans that would bring about a change in the world. What kind of change would mostly depend upon the immediate children of WWII veterans. I am sure they didn't realize it then, but it would be this group of children who would feel misplaced, uncomfortable and unsure of how to handle the race issues in America. And I am equally sure that if they had to do it again, they might would do a few things differently. Our fathers had come together as One Nation, Under God, and our mothers were at home experiencing "colored restrooms" and "for white only" signs. Half of the race supported our fathers and their war efforts and the other half treated our fathers as traders to the race and in some circles the soldiers were rejected from the family group. There were a particular group of soldiers who continued to stay in touch spiritually. (After all, that's how they meet) This group of soldiers were unique in that MOST of them decided to live in the San Francisco Bay Area. Some say that they even planned to be buried near each other. (There are many soldier's graves near my father's grave, perhaps there is some truth to this)Of the Negro soldiers, some moved to Berkeley, where I was born, others stayed in Oakland, San Francisco, Richmond and Vallejo (or ValleyJo as it were called) It appears that the white counter parts moved to areas such as Walnut Creek and surrounding areas that later became BlackHawk, San Ramon, Danville and Pleasanton.I am not exactly sure what the other children were told about the war; but it was strongly implied that I was to always respect the spiritual connections between my father and men from WWII regardless of their color. Being a child with a strong imagination, I decided to call them my "foster dads"I can truly say, that if this story is true, the bond between these men was never broken. Even during my adult life I have been reminded of these spiritual bonds. As I have grown older, I have accepted the fact that this story may be just another WWII fairy tale, but just in case its not, allow me to finish the story. As with all groups of people, there is always one or two in the group who are far more ambitious then the others. That brings me to THE question? Did one of the members of the group go on to become the Governor of the State and then President of the United States?Like I said, it may just be another WWII fairy tale!
