Timely Passion

Author : Robert Curtis
I don't consider myself to be old, yet. I'm only 55 years old, for heaven's sake. And although I've noticed a definite reduction in physical capability, my mind still insists that I'm "young at heart". Quite honestly, however, I do recognize, more and more as time goes on, the disparity between the two. That doesn't mean I have to like growing older. I have learned to make certain…adjustments, shall we say…to life's realities. But I still plan. I still wish. I still dream.I have pondered a lot about the passage of time and the use of time. It seems that the older one gets, the more quickly time passes when one is doing something that is fulfilling. So the question I ask myself, and the question I would pose to you, is the following: Are you actively engaged in a good cause, or are you just keeping yourself busy until you die?Time is a resource. A physical reality that can be more precious than riches of any sort. Yet, what do people do with their time? How often do you hear the references, "wasting time", "spending time", "using time", etc.? Are you ignoring your own use of time, as if it would be around forever? So many individuals make such a pathetically poor use of the most valuable non-renewable resource on this earth. And that is Time. Time can not be bought, sold, or borrowed. It can only be spent. So pause with me a moment. Think about it. What are you willing to accept in exchange for your time? Do we consciously choose where we will use the non-replaceable units of the blood of life that we call time? If you have not done so yet, you really should begin to get a passion for possession of the use of the time you are given.Moment by moment our time will tick away.At the end of the day will the time exchanged reflect your values of life? Or will you once again have been robbed by the time clock of mortality?Life does not continually require you to "punch in". You did that already at birth. Life only affords you the unlimited opportunities to make the most of the time you are given. You create the only restrictions that are imposed on you.Find the passion in your potential. Discover the secrets of happiness that lie within, just anxiously waiting to be revealed. You have the same number of hours, minutes, and seconds in a day as anyone else. But only you can make them moments of value. Only you can make them moments of purpose.Only you can take control and make them moments of liberation.Only you.Bob Curtis has a bachelor's degree in Psychology, and has been writing about the elements of relationships for a number of years.
