Do you often find yourself forgetting your priorities or goals and moving on to other endeavors before they are actually completed? Do you have trouble prioritizing your goals or setting up strategic objectives along the way or should I say mini-goals? What sort of things do you do to crystallize your goals so you do not forget about them? This is a relatively interesting question and it was recently asked to me by a gentle man who wondered how I wrote 10,000 articles and put them online. This was a goal of mine and something that I will accomplish in the next few days. In fact if you look at the last two sentences you can see that I'm talking both in the present and past tense. What this should show you is that to crystallize my goals I envision myself as having already achieved them. In other words even though this is only article number 9950 and my goal is actually 10,000 articles to be written and put online and I am 50 articles shy of my goal, I have actually already arrived at my goal in my own mind. This is called psycho-cybernetics and many sports stars use it and also salespeople as they envision the goal, the victory or the sale prior to having actually made it. This technique works very well and if you envision yourself having already achieved the goal it will really be hard to forget it because your mind has already registered it as being achieved. It is pretty hard to forget a goal that you have already accomplished and once you burn it into memory it is much easier to make it happen and this is one of the ways and methods that I used to crystallize my goals so that I don't forget them and I stay on target. The other thing I recommend that you do is to write down your goal on a timeline across a piece of paper on one side right down the goal as being achieved and go back to the start of the line and write start. Next, figure out when you want to achieve this goal by, as in a date. Put that date underneath the finish and then make dashed vertical lines across your timeline and make an equal distance apart by days, weeks, months, years or decades.Write down where you who wish to be along the way. It will be pretty hard for you not to crystallize your goal if you use these methods and that is what I recommend that you do so you can achieve your goals just like I am going to achieve mine. Please consider all this in 2006.Lance Winslow, a retired entrepreneur, adventurer, modern day philosopher and perpetual tourist.
