Young People and the Future of Science

Author : Lance Winslow
It is often said that we need more up and coming students to work harder on studying math and science. Indeed we must propel our next generation to enter the sciences if we are to have all the people we need for the future of our nation. After all who will run things if we do not?Who will work our Space Programs, build on our technological advances and helps us innovate for the forward progression of the United States and the human species as a whole? Recently I talked with an up and coming young lady who is very into math and science and it made me feel proud to see that many young folks are indeed accepting the challenge of the future and talking it in full stride.I stated to this young gal; I am glad to see your career path is science we need more up and coming superstars like you. As a matter of fact I was just reading about a team of them at NC State designing the Sea Wolf II Under Water Robotic Vehicle. It is amazing what minds can do when someone tells them something is unfeasible? Oh yah, watch me! You seem like you could be like that as an over achiever. But be careful it is addicting and maybe you can help us wake up the rest of the humans on this planet some day? Maybe you can become a Multi-trician? I made that one up!http://www.ezinearticles.com/?Are-You-a-Multitrician?&id=81747Perhaps in the future we will see our students with multiple areas of expertise in the math and science fields. If so this will guarantee our journey into the future. We must invest in the strength of our students and assist them to accepting the challenge of the road ahead. Consider all this in 2006.Lance Winslow
