Debt Consolidation â Consolidate Your Student Loans Now!
The Federal student loan program has benefited thousands of college students in the forty years since it was introduced. Interest rates for the program have historically been quite competitive, and the program has allowed many people to acquire a college education who otherwise might not have been able to afford one.At the moment, interest rates on Federal student loans are the lowest in history, but that is about to change. On July 1, 2005, the interest rates on Federal student loans will rise, due to an increase in the price of Treasury, bills, to which the interest rates on student loans are tied. While an increase in interest rates is seldom viewed as a good thing, knowing about it ahead of can be helpful. Between now and June 30, new graduates or those who have been repaying existing loans can consolidate their student loans at current rates. The rates currently vary, with fixed rates being slightly higher than adjustable rates. Those considering consolidation might wish to convert their loan to a fixed rate. Depending on the amount of the loan, borrowers may extend their loan terms to as long as 30 years. There is also legislation pending in Congress that would change the Federal loan system so that all future loans are adjustable rate, with no fixed rate option. This will save the government money by not allowing students to lock in long-term loans at low rates during times of increasing interest rates. Students who wish to obtain a fixed rate loan may not have much longer to do so.Rates will vary slightly from lender to lender, and the market for loan consolidation is quite competitive. Those wishing to consolidate their loans should consider shopping around for the best deal while time permits.©Copyright 2005 by Retro Marketing. Passing Your CCNA and CCNP: Configuring And Troubleshooting Router-On-A-Stick
For CCNA and CCNP candidates, it's hard not to laugh the first time you hear the phrase "router on a stick". Let's face it, that's a pretty silly term. But as those who have passed the CCNA and CCNP exams know, this is a vital exam topic that you must know how to configure and troubleshoot.
Basic Cisco theory states that for hosts in different VLANs to communicate, a Layer 3 device must be involved to handle the routing between the VLANs. That device is a router, and there are special considerations that must be taken into account for both the physical router itself and the configuration you'll be writing.
The router will be connected to a switch via a FastEthernet port (or higher). The router port cannot be a regular Ethernet port, since the router port will need the ability to send and receive data at the same time.
The configuration of the interface is where things get interesting. Let's say we have two VLANs that will be using router-on-a-stick to communicate.
Here is the VLAN information:
VLAN 20: 20.20.20.0 /24
VLAN 40: 40.40.40.0 /24
The port on the switch that will be connected to the router's FastEthernet port must be in trunking mode, and you must know the trunking protocol in use. We'll go with the Cisco-proprietary ISL here.
The physical FE port on the router will not have an IP address. The use of router-on-a-stick mandates the use of logical subinterfaces. While we don't have to use the VLAN numbers for the subinterface numbers, I've found this helps you keep the interfaces straight. One subinterface must be given an IP address in VLAN 20, and the other will have an IP address in VLAN 40.
After creating subinterfaces fast 0.20 and fast 0.40, the config looks like this:
interface fastethernet0 no ip address
interface FastEthernet 0.20 ip address 20.20.20.1 255.255.255.0
interface FastEthernet 0.40 ip address 40.40.40.1 255.255.255.0
Believe it or not, you're almost done! Now we need the encapsulation statement under each subinterface. The subinterface statement must reflect both the VLAN number and the encapsulation type being used. When we're finished, the config would look like this:
interface fastethernet0 no ip address
interface FastEthernet 0.20 ip address 20.20.20.1 255.255.255.0 encapsulation isl 20
interface FastEthernet 0.40 ip address 40.40.40.1 255.255.255.0 encapsulation isl 40
And that's it! Your hosts in VLAN 20 should now be able to communicate with hosts in VLAN 40, and vice versa.
A couple of final troubleshooting points - the most common error with router-on-a-stick is to put the wrong vlan number in the encapsulation statement. Also, make sure you have configured the router's IP address in VLAN 20 as the default gateway for hosts in VLAN 20, and do the same for VLAN 40.
I hope you've enjoyed this look at router-on-a-stick. While the name may get a chuckle out of you, it's still used in quite a few networks out there, and knowing how to configure and troubleshoot it will get you that much closer to earning your CCNA and CCNP.

A Road Trip in Cyprus -- Blessed by the Gods
Aphrodite's Hot SpotEuropean Road Trip AdventuresCyprus. Yes, it is a hee-uge (note: very large) holiday destination. Ask any slightly pale English teen, and theyâ™ll wax lyrical about the bars, clubs and beaches. And bars, clubs and beaches there are. Much the same as youâ™ll find in Ibiza, Thailand, and Cancun. And thatâ™s fine, if all youâ™re after is bubbly happiness in a cocktail glass and nice tan (and the beginnings of a sexy and malignant melanoma). But this tends to mean youâ™ll be overlooking the fact that the island itself has one of the most fascinating histories around. Almost every empire on the face of this earth invaded here. The Ottomans, the Lusignans, the Byzantines, the Venetians. Even the Arabs conducted a few casual raids, possibly just to keep up appearances. All left their mark on the culture and history of this remarkable island. Add to this potent mix a healthy foundation of Ancient Greek and Roman influences in an island washed by inky blue waves and warmed by a Mediterranean sun, and youâ™ve got a holiday worth a thousand brandy sours and ouzos.Paphos, more than just a nightclub
One of the cities of Cyprus, which provides an excellent base to immerse you in the history and culture, is Paphos, situated on the West Coast. If you just want to have a roam around Paphos itself, youâ™ve got loads of history to wander about in.But the whole countryside nearby is one precious find after another. If youâ™re not keen on donkey-power, perhaps a cheap car rental might be the way to go. Internet sites like http://www.vroomvroomvroom.co.uk/locations/cyprus-car-rental.aspx (car hire Cyprus) can sort you out a deal on car rental Paphos â" where you can compare rates from different companies to make sure you get the cheapest.Paphos has loads of ancient sites which are protected as UNESCO world heritage sites, and according to Greek mythology, Aphrodite, the Goddess of Love, was born here, arising from the sea foam. Places to visit include the Paphos and Saranta Kolones castles in Kato Paphos â" the lower part of town. Also on this side of town you should meander over to the Panayia Chrysopolitissa church built on the ruins of a Byzantine Basilica. Have a look for St Paulâ™s Pillar, where apparently the unfortunate saint was flogged by authorities (the Romans) before they were convinced to turn Christian. Paphosâ™s medieval fort in the harbour is also worth a visit.Grapes, Gods and that loving feelingOnce you get outside of Paphos, you can go in any direction and hit cultural gold. Head on up into the Western Troodos Mountains to peek at little villages quietly going about business as usual, circa the 15th century (alright, a complete exaggeration, but itâ™s easy to be carried away by the romance around here). To the north is a little village by the name of Kathikas â" itâ™s a great destination if you like to indulge amongst the vineyards. To the east of Kathikas is an even tinier wine-growing village â" Arodes â" with a population numbering in the tens. Nearby gorges provide dramatic scenery should you wish for inspiration or a Kodak moment.Close by Arodes is the Akamas Peninsula, where youâ™ll find the most romantic sounding spot in the entire universe â" the Baths of Aphrodite. And worthy of such a name it is, being bloody beautiful. And if, after your own holy soak, you make your little legs walk a couple of kilometres, youâ™ll find yourself at the Fontana Amorosa or âœthe Fountains of Luuurveâ. Tis a sexy spot indeed.Closer to home, or Paphos, youâ™ve got the brilliant Ayios Neophytos Monastery â" carved out of the mountain by a hermit. Bless those hermits, they really do have a lot of spare time. The monastery houses some of the best Byzantine frescoes around. And just because Aphrodite was a popular girl around here, youâ™ve got the ruins of the famous Temple of Aphrodite about 14 kilometres east of Paphos. It once was a popular pilgrimage for believers, back when people were still convinced the Gods could very well turn up any second in the form of a bull, or a heavy old person. This is really only the start, and whether youâ™ve got a few days, or a few weeks, Paphos and the surrounding areas will keep you knee-deep in Gods, mosaics, tavernas, ruins, vineyards, beaches, mountains and donkeys. Keep an ear out for Pan's pipes.Alyssa Betts

Is a Blog Right For Your Business?
Lemmings are cute, but dumb. If you tell them to jump off a cliff, they will. Just like the people who start blogs because everyone is doing it. Guess what happens after a little while? The blogs die.
In managing a list of many Web sites, most of which are blogs, I deleted countless sites from the list because the sites and blogs no longer existed. The people ran out of steam or had no reason to start them in the first place.
How do you know when a blog is right for your business? Learn why people start blogs, how they find their niche and how blogging tools can be used for more than blogs.
Some people like to read blogs, others like to read newsletters, still others like to rely on feeds and some read a few or all of them. No matter the method the information is distributed, each medium has one thing in common: content. Having a blog connects your newsletter and your business with all of these readers and delivers important content in a particular style.
I've been blogging since June 2000. If you review my early blog entries in meryl's notes, you'll notice they're more personal. When blogs first hit the scene in the late '90s, they were personal diaries and journals. Like the blog business, my blog has transformed from personal to business speak, although I still add personal notes here and there.
A few bloggers tend to talk about their work, their products and their little world. That might work for celebrities where fans want to know everything about them, but it doesn't work for the average business person. Other business people want information on how to succeed and when a blog spends time hawking products offering information of no value, few people will return. The people whose products sell well are the ones who provide valuable information. Readers already know what kind of information they're getting, so they trust that when they buy something, it will be of the same or better quality. This value must be reflected in their blog. It's much like people who only sign up for a newsletter after first seeing an example.
No one wants to be a lemming (I would hope). How do you decide whether or not to set up a blog? The answer isn't black or white (what did you expect?). Ask these questions:
Can you regularly update it â" at least five times a week?
Do you have something to say other than just linking to others?
Do you read other blogs or feeds?
Can you provide information of value to others not just to yourself?
How large is your newsletter subscriber list?
How many unique visitors do you get on an average day, week or month?
The big decider is whether or not you can write in the blog almost daily. The people behind the high traffic blogs post multiple times a day. Though resourceful, merely linking to other sites doesnâ™t give visitors much reason to make the effort to come to yours. Reading other blogs or feeds is a great way to learn how to carry a discussion. Find other blogs covering topics similar to yours and check them out. Disagree with their opinions? Write about it and explain your reasons. Cross-blog discussions are common, and that's where trackback comes in handy.
Trackback is a blog feature. If you decide to comment on another blog posting in your blog instead of in that blog's comments page, then you link to the conversation through the trackback link. Trackback is similar to the permalink, the permanent URL for the blog entry, but it has a different URL for copying and pasting in your blog's trackback box.
Aside from the technical aspects of operating a blog on a daily basis, subscriber list size and Web site traffic are good indicators of what kind of reaction you'll get when opening a blog. Starting from scratch with little traffic means you have a long road ahead and lots of work to do. There is no magic formula anyone can sell you for $97 to make your blog an overnight success. But with some perseverance and ingenuity, your blog can engage many prospects and clients.
Considering there are numerous blogs out there, pick a niche topic when starting a blog for a better shot at attracting and keeping an audience. meryl's notes focuses on three areas: webby, geeky and wordy. In reality, this is too much. What I need to do for my readers is create three separate blog entry points, so those interested in writing, newsletters and Internet marketing get nothing but the wordy entries. Those interested in Web design get the webby stuff and the technophiles receive the geeky content.
I also manage a personal blog separate from meryl's notes. It's about cochlear implants and deafness. This could fall under the geeky category, but it's a personal blog and doesn't belong in meryl's notes. This blog is written for a different audience.
The blogging tools for both of my blogs come with syndication capabilities so those using feed readers or aggregators can read the content through the software. When sending a new issue of a newsletter, comment on it or link to it in the blog, that way the blog and feed readers will get the goods, so all three bases are covered.
Blogging tools aren't just for, well, blogging. Such tools are an excellent way to help you update your Web site more often than you otherwise would. I use it to manage the list of tableless Web sites. Using blogging tools is much easier than the way I managed it before, updating the HTML files by hand. Though using a blog tool, it isn't a blog. In this case, the blog tool has become a content management system (CMS).
Small business owners don't have a need for the fancy and pricey CMSes out there. They find it easier to use blogging software to manage their sites or hire someone to adapt the tool for their site.
Blogs have found a place in businesses and people are finding creative ways to use them. Some companies have a blog on the intranet for communicating project status, jeopardies and metrics. Theyâ™re used for knowledge management. With information pouring in, blog tools provide a way to share, organize and process the information.
Being a follower can be good or bad. No one wants to walk off a cliff with the lemmings, but everyone wants to succeed. Best practices won't help, since the decision to blog is based on the organization's mission, needs and goals along with its target market's desires and needs. A blog about lemmings? There is one, sort of. Or maybe youâ™d like to start your own and talk about dumb business moves.

Internet Banking Could Help With Your Tax Retuns
One of the most useful things about Internet banking is that once you have your account information on your computer, you can export it into financial programs such as Microsoft Money and Quicken, to better manage your various household accounts. This can be particularly useful at tax time, if you export your account details into a tax calculator program such as TurboTax.However, getting the software and your Internet banking to talk to each other can sometimes be easier said than done. While many banks (especially Internet-only banks) are good about this and offer an easy download link to save your online statements onto your computer, others offer only a very basic Internet banking service. If your bank doesn't produce export files, you may have luck with asking your software to access your Internet banking account directly, giving it your username and password (it goes without saying that you shouldn't give these details to any software you don't completely trust). If that still doesn't work, then don't worry. Search the web for the name of your bank followed by 'export software', and you will often find that someone has produced a free script that you can use to save the information from your bank's website. These scripts generally work by first asking you to save pages from your Internet banking using your web browser's Save button or menu option, and then taking the files produced and converting them into a format that your financial software can understand. If all else fails, call up your bank and ask them to help you. If they refuse, and it is really important to you, you might consider opening an account at an Internet bank, where they will be much more understanding towards these kinds of requests. You might also want to complain to the company that makes the financial software, as they may be able to persuade (or even help) the bank to do something about the problem.John Gibb is the owner of internet banking guidance For more information on internet banking check out http://www.internet-banking-guidance.info

The Four Business Building Tools
When was the last time you were so impressed by a business that you just had to tell someone about it? Sadly, itâ™s probably been a while, but if youâ™re an entrepreneur, this represents a tremendous opportunity. Just think of the business potential thatâ™s out there just waiting to be realized. So whatâ™s the problem? Why are there so few outstanding businesses?Well, the problem isnâ™t a shortage of dreams. Most entrepreneurs have more of them than they can count. The problem is the challenge of turning those dreams into reality. Oh sure, every entrepreneur starts their business with the best of intentions, but somewhere along the way they loose sight of their dreams as they become more and more consumed with the daily grind of running their business. After years of helping people build their companies, Iâ™ve come to realize that growing a business comes down to two main things⦠people and time. If you can learn to properly manage both, youâ™ll eventually be a success. To do this properly, you must design your business to function independently from you. Itâ™s the necessary goal of any organization that wants to achieve success. Without this, you are stuck. You are doomed to forever bump your head against what we call the âœglass ceilingâ Youâ™ll recognize the symptoms if you ever find yourself running out of time to get your work done, complaining about your employees work ethic, or feeling frustrated with your customersâ™ seemingly unreasonable demands. There are four basic tools you can use to confidently give your business the independence it needs to grow.1. Business Manual
2. Employee Manuals
3. Analysis Manual
4. Business CalendarUsed properly, these tools will form a solid foundation for your growth. They are designed to give your business its independence, so you can focus your efforts on guiding it to the next level. Thereâ™s a little work involved, but Iâ™ve never met a lazy entrepreneur. And besides, owning a successful, thriving business is more than worth the effort. The first business tool is your Business Manual. It functions much like an operations manual does for your car. It houses your strategies, your policies, your systems, and other basic information. Basically, everything you might need to run your company is located here in one central location. The value of a well documented Business Manual is significant, to say the least. Not only does it help smooth out the daily management of your operation, it gives tremendous confidence to a potential investor or purchaser, helping to raise the value of your business in the process. Why? Because a business that runs on its own is a much more solid investment. In fact, itâ™s a critical factor in determining its market value. The second business tool is really a group of tools. These are your Employee Manuals. Employee Manuals are the most common of the Four Business Building Tools, but rarely do they provide the value they should. A good Employee Manual should serve double duty as a Training Manual. This means it should contain not only your important company policies and contact information, it should also contain a detailed job description, complete with applicable systems. In other words, it should show an employee not only what is expected of them, but how to do it as well. The goal is to make the process of bringing in a new employee as smooth as possible and then empower them to take ownership of their work. The third business tool is your Analysis Manual. Think of this as your âœbusiness dashboardâ. Here you will keep all the relevant numbers that you want to review on a regular basis concerning the status of your business.Certainly this includes your financial statements, but those arenâ™t the only numbers that are important. For example, you may want to track the amount of overtime your employees are putting in per month, or the number of new prospects your salespeople are meeting with each week. It doesnâ™t need to be complicated, but it does need to be useful, so take a little time to identify the numbers that mean something to you. Then, share these numbers with your employees. Not only is an Analysis Manual a powerful goal setting tool (helping to keep you on track), it can also warn you of potential problems before they arise. For example, if you know that you need sales of $200 thousand next month and you know that your salespeople tend to convert 33% of their leads into sales, youâ™ll want to be sure youâ™ve got at least $600 thousand worth of quotes in place for next month. Now youâ™ll know with some certainty if youâ™re on track for a great month, or if youâ™ve got some work to do to reach your target. And you can do this with all sorts of numbers from your business. The final business tool is your Business Calendar. This is simply a place for you to track the annual cycle of your business. For example, there may be times of the year when you want to run various marketing campaigns⦠times of the year you want to review your budgets⦠times of the year you want to have employee reviews⦠and so forth.Itâ™s not rocket science, but a good Business Calendar is an essential tool for keeping things from falling through the cracks. After all, when was the last time you had an employee review? When is your next employee review? Do your employees know this date? Can they count on it happening on a schedule, year after year? If you implement a Business Calendar youâ™ll be able to confidently answer these questions and more.Recently I met a fellow who grew his business from $10 thousand to $100 thousand per month in just under 6 months. Know where he was in month 7? He was bankrupt. He couldnâ™t keep up with his customersâ™ demands and his business simply imploded on itself. Itâ™s a sad story, but his problem wasnâ™t new. The number one killer of small business today is unmanaged rapid growth. Thatâ™s not to say that rapid growth is bad. Growth isnâ™t the problem, all businesses need to grow⦠itâ™s the unmanaged part that can kill a good business. So take a little time to get your business in order and then grow like crazy. Before you know it, youâ™ll be well on your way to building the business of your dreams.About the author:Mark Wardell is President and Founder of Wardell Professional Development, a business consulting firm, focused on the unique needs of small/mid sized growth companies.Wardell Professional Development

Self Employment Ideas
Can there be anything more exciting than being self employed?
Self employment means having no boss. Being you own boss carries
a tremendous responsibilty that can bring with it tremendous
rewards as well. Visit the top websites below to get more self
employment ideas.
A self-employed person works for himself/herself instead of as
an employee of another person or organization, drawing income
from a trade or business. This is less stable than working as an
employee but tends to earn a higher hourly income or rate.
In its simplest form, the individual and his business are one
and the same entity. This makes the owner personally liable for
all the debts of the business. To avoid this, he may choose to
incorporate his business, protecting his personal assets from
creditors or others taking legal action against the business.
Self-employed workers cannot contribute to a 401K plan, unless
they self-incorporate and set up a 401K plan for the company,
but this requires some significant paperwork. Most self employed
set up a Self Employment Plan (SEP) IRA, which allows them to
contribute up to 20% of their income, up to $40,000 in
contributions, to the SEP per year. This is significantly higher
than 401K plans.
If a self-employed person"s client goes bankrupt, the bankrupt
company"s actual employees usually have first rights to whatever
cash the company had. Next is the IRS, and then all the external
creditors, including the self employed worker.
Self-employed workers are paid directly by clients or by their
business, and some proportion of these payments will be due to
the government as income tax. Unlike an employee of a company, a
self-employed person must pay tax after receiving his taxable
income.
In order to avoid resulting interest payments to the IRS for
paying taxes in arrears, self-employed workers in the United
States usually pay estimated taxes quarterly, and at the end of
the year, the tax return determines if these estimated payments
were enough. Another tax implication is that a self-employed
worker must pay both the employee and employer portions of the
FICA tax (so instead of 6.2%, they must pay 12.4% until they
make enough that FICA is no longer paid). Self-employed workers
must also pay 2.9% instead of 1.45% for Medicare on all income.
On the other side, self-employed workers can take far more
deductions than an ordinary employee. Anytime a self-employed
worker visits a client, the trip expenses are deductible (the
deduction for driving any car is $0.385 per mile plus any tolls
incurred).
Other expenses such as uniforms, computer equipment, cell
phones, etc. can be deducted if there is a legitimate business
use for these items. Since the chances of being audited by the
Internal Revenue Service are relatively slim, many self-employed
workers likely overstate their deductions. One deduction that
has a reputation for raising a "red flag" at the IRS is the
deduction for a home office.
Many people would simply put a desk in an attic, perhaps with an
old computer on it, and try to take a deduction (for
depreciation). Home office deductions are legitimate, although
it has to be a legitimate office. The IRS will also overrule
other flagrant deductions, such as buying a Yacht and naming it
after your company. If you"re an accountant or dentist, such a
deduction likely won"t be valid.
If someone is self-employed, but works for only one client, and
is otherwise indistinguishable from a regular employee, then the
IRS will probably require the company to treat him as a regular
employee.
The US Internal Revenue Service provideds Schedule C and SE of
Form 1040 to assist self-employed workers in payment of the
proper amount of tax.

What Is A Business Plan? And Why Do I Need One
For many entrepreneurs the creation of a business plan is the biggest hurdle in the development process of their fledgling enterprise. There is a mystery, almost a dread in many people when discussion of a business plan requirement is first broached. They conceptualize a boring, dry, painful experience and many would like to avoid this step if at all possible. What is a Business Plan?A business plan is a document that qualifies, quantifies and narrates a commercial opportunity. It is that simple to state, more difficult to execute, but anyone can customize a business plan that gets results. The plan must have an exciting Executive Summary. Like the opening scenes of a movie, or the first chapter of a book, the writer must set a hook.Typically, active investors, angels, venture capital groups and investment bankers are deluged with business plans. Screeners typically read the document before passing along to decision-makers within the firm. However, very few move along the decision making food chain precisely because the Executive Summary lacks excitement, punch or sets a high level of anticipation about what is inside the document.Having written dozens of business plans for clients I can attest that creating a plan that works is, well, work. No two plans are alike. The plan must be customized, well researched, structured and direct. I receive more than 500 business plan submissions annually in my consulting firm. Less than 1% have commercial potential as written. Many describe products, services, retail or new business development ideas that otherwise might be exciting. However, the plan does not convey that potential. One of the worst things to evolve from the arrival of the inter-net is the ability to download a business plan template and write the document by filling in the blanks. The template itself is not problematic, I use a self-developed template when I customize plans. The problem is that many entrepreneurs do not have the writing skills, the research in hand, know the keys that turn on investors and thus, take shortcuts. Filling in the blanks without sweating the details and doing comprehensive research results in a document that will not be read and an opportunity that will never launch.Rule number one in the development of any commercial opportunity: shortcuts equal failure!I am a self-taught business plan writer. If I can do it, anyone can. In reality, however, most people just want to expose their opportunity to investors, licensees or potential partners. They don't have writing skills, do not know the types of research necessary to support the plans sales model, need help in creating the marketing strategy, and will never be able to narrate financials.
Where can they go to create and exciting business plan document. The following are resources readily available in most communities. Many are free. Many colleges, community colleges and universities have developed small business incubators. They attract additional state funding, as small business growth and development are keys to job creation and an increased tax base. Take advantage of this community asset. Students, graduate students and professors are often available to direct your efforts. Ten years ago there were only a handful such programs. In this situation, the potential licensee would take your work product and develop a plan that fits their internal organizational needs. However, if you are attempting to fund a start-up business, self-market a product or buy a small business you will absolutely need to create a road map. That road map is your business plan. What's LinkShare, And Do I Need To Use It?
Online affiliate marketing is one of the most effective, cheapest and fastest ways to promote merchandise. With millions of people getting access to the Internet everyday, theres a great chance for a merchant to introduce his products and services to a wider market, thereby, maximizing his revenue.Likewise, affiliate marketing is an excellent way to generate full-time income for a home-based affiliate marketer. For someone who is jaded of going through a grueling eight-hour work routine, affiliate marketing offers a great opportunity to earn big without wearing himself outphysically, mentally and emotionally. In affiliate marketing, both parties are benefited since as the merchant earns from each item sold, the marketer likewise earns a commission. If you are interested in affiliate marketing but are finding it hard to look for affiliate programs, affiliates or merchants, you can start by checking sites of various affiliate networks. Many affiliate programs in the Internet are being offered through an affiliate program network, which acts as a link between the merchants and individual affiliates.Among the most popular is LinkShare, it is through it that merchants and affiliates meet. LinkShare maintains and manages affiliate marketing programs for a great number of merchants with various kinds of businesses, products and services. It also has over 6,000 affiliate site members in its network. It gains profit from the set-up fees, monthly account maintenance fees and commissions. Joining networks like LinkShare can be of great help in establishing your online marketing business. Whether you are a merchant or an affiliate marketer, you need to research well on your partners in order to choose the best for you.LinkShare provides the facility of acquiring access to a large network of advertisers (merchants) who offer their affiliate programs to publishers (affiliates) who are willing to promote their products. In the same manner, it gives the merchants access to a large network of affiliates who are searching for affiliate marketing opportunities.LinkShare is especially beneficial for an affiliate in choosing his partners since he can find his options all in one location. It would be easier for him to compare products, commission rates and other benefits given by the merchant. The merchant usually just waits for interested affiliates to sign up in his affiliate marketing program but being in the network increases his chance to promote his products to a larger market, thus, maximizing his potential to gain huge profit. To help you decide whether to use large affiliate networks such as LinkShare or not, let us try to look deeper into its positive and negative sides. The primary advantage of LinkShare to you as an affiliate is convenience. As earlier mentioned, you find different pieces of information about your choices simultaneously all in a single location, so you save time and effort looking for affiliate programs or merchants. Its also easier to track your business partners performance through monthly reports and statements, as well as its sales and commission rates, so you know whether the affiliate program is still worth continuing. If you have signed up for several affiliate programs, you can check all your statistics for each merchandiser you are affiliated with by logging in just once. LinkShare helps you manage and maintain all records of your visitors click-throughs and sales transaction. It takes care of your commissions and gives it to you monthly in lump sum. Especially when you have more than one merchant partner, it would be easier for you to manage your accounts and track your earnings when you are affiliated through a marketing program network. Furthermore, every information you get is accurate and secured, so you are protected from all the risk you might encounter. Above all, you can enjoy LinkShares benefits for free. You just have to go to their site and register your website. Instantly, you get access to a great variety of affiliate programs available for you. So, whats on the negative side? Although, it is indeed helpful to join affiliate marketing networks such as LinkShare, there are some disadvantages, too.For one, merchants offer lower commissions to affiliates who partner with them through the third party program network. This because they still have to pay for the use of service and the technology provided by LinkShare.Direct partnership with the merchant cuts costs of advertising through the network and so the affiliate has bigger potential to earn more. Moreover, it is possible that your payment may be delayed for a month or more since program networks would pay you only after the advertiser or the merchant has paid them. Do you need to use LinkShare or other networks? It depends, actually. You can opt for direct partnership with the merchant, but this choice is not applicable all the time. There are a lot of merchandisers who offer their affiliate program only through affiliate program networks and thus, you have no choice other than joining the network to get into the affiliate marketing program. So you are faced with take it or leave it situation. But LinkShare and other program networks are not that disadvantageous. After all, whether you join it or not, earning big would depend more on your promotional strategies and persistence.
